This wine is a blend of Merlot and Zinfandel. This is a very drinkable, easy tasting red that goes well with pizza, pasta dishes, steak, chicken and many other dishes. We produce this red table wine for Zano's Restaurant, which is located on Donner Pass Road.
2008 Chicago Park Merlot
Our closest source for grapes, Bear River vineyard is in Chicago Park (near Colfax) and operated by Jim Manning, who is a helicopter pilot. He works in Kazakhstan flying workers on and off oil rigs. The elevation of this vineyard is 3,200 feet, which produces a concentrated Merlot with ample berry character and great structure.
2007 Garys' Vineyard Pinot Noir
Garys' Vineyard is located in the gorgeous and rich soil region of Santa Lucia Highlands. With its warm days and cool nights, it becomes the perfect place to grow Pinot Noir. Our limited production of the grapes and careful unfiltered processes make this wine uniquely distinctive. The grapes are transported up to Truckee's cold climate in a refrigerated truck, then crushed and cold soaked for up to 4 days. Fermentation starts slow because of the cool nights in Truckee and then ends strong about 4 weeks later. Our barrel aging cellars are a cool 50-55 F. We age in 60% new French oak for a minimum of 18 months. All this produces a very delicate Pinot with the complexity, depth, and soft tannins that the Pisoni clone is known for.

This is a great opportunity to explore the nuances of different vintages from the same grapes and the same winemaker, truly a one of a kind experience. 2007 Old Vine Lodi Zinfandel
The 2007 Old Vine Zinfandel is a fabulous example of traditional Lodi Zinfandels. These grapes come from a small family owned vineyard on Peltier Road. This vineyard was started in 1930 by Ernie Gribaudo. Ernie was a hard working, easy going man, who truly believed that life began and ended in the earth. He worked tirelessly to grow exceptional Zinfandel grapes, and for a long time sold his grapes to a large winery in the area, which blended them into their red table wine. We met Ernie in 1994, and thought his Zin needed to be showcased. We began making Gribaudo Zinfandel and our first year we gave Ernie a couple of bottles, which he proudly displayed on his mantle until the day he died. We have been making the Zinfandel since 1994, and continue to make it, as Ernie's son and daughter took over the vineyard in 2003.
The 2007 Old Vine Zinfandel has hints of black pepper, raspberry, toasty oak, and tannin.
2007 Garys' Vineyard Best Man Pinot Noir ONLY 80 CASES PRODUCED JUST RELEASED!
The 2007 Garys' Vineyard "Best Man" Pinot has been tasting excellent and very smooth. The Best Man Pinot started as an experiment to see what could be done differently in the cellar with this great fruit source. So Winemaker Russ Jones took one ton of fruit and held it in reserve by cold soaking for over a week, then let fermentation proceed slowly and even let a portion go through wild yeast fermentation, after fermentation we let it sit on the skins for 2 weeks, then gentle pressed, and put it in some very fine french oak barrels and bottled it in October 2010. Only 80 cases of this Special wine have been produced.
